MARY Drums/Vocals |
Mary grew up in Carroll, Iowa and studied percussion at St. Lawrence Grade School and Kuemper High School. During school she was accepted into several Honor Bands. She graduated from high school in 1997 and received the distinguished "Louis Armstrong Jazz Award" for excellence in Jazz Music. At Iowa State University, she continued her musical ambitions by playing in the "ISU Drumline" playing cymbals and in the spring played drum set for the "Girls Basketball Pep Band." She also played percussion in several wind ensembles and studied piano.
Mary moved to Des Moines in 2002 where she currently resides after graduating from college. She began a professional music career in 2003 by playing with "Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50's." At the same time she also played with a classic country band called "Country Knights." After excelling in both bands she was propelled into the opportunity to play for the "Mudpuppies" in 2005. She currently plays drum set and sings exclusively with the "Mudpuppies" and continues to expand her interest of music by studying guitar.
During Mary's career as a Professional Musician, she has had the opportunity to open for "The Crickets," Buddy Holly's original band. She also has played behind Alan Clark, lead vocal and guitar for the Eddie Cochran Band, and Narvel Felts, the famous Rockabilly Hall of Fame and Country Artist. She also played behind Jimmy Pryor, the popular Iowa Blues Hall of Fame vocalist.
Mary's inspirations behind her playing are her brother Mark, Tre Cool from "Green Day," and all the awesome Iowa drummers she has had the opportunity to meet.
